The cause for many types of cancer is completely unknown. Of course there are those habits that can lead to certain types of cancer, such as smoking and lung cancer. But in the end, most types we simply don’t understand well enough to know what causes the cells to act the way that they do or when or where it will appear. Because of this it is important for you to know and understand cancer symptoms. This is especially true if your family history lends itself to certain types of cancer. You should also look into the different cancer therapy options available to you in case you should be diagnosed.

With all of the different types of cancer out there, and all of the areas that cancer can infect, specific cancer symptoms will vary greatly. But the more common cancer symptoms will include fever, chills, sudden and unexplained weight loss, night sweats, unexplained fatigue or even just a general, unexplained feeling ill. Of course there are several different illnesses that could cause these cancer symptoms as well, and that is what makes cancer so difficult to detect. With that said, you should know the risk factors of the different types of cancer, especially those that seem to run in your family. Once you begin looking at particular types of cancer, the cancer symptoms start to become a little bit more distinguishable. For example, lung cancer symptoms would include severe coughing, shortness of breath and constant or severe chest pain. But, even with the closest eye on your health and monitoring possible symptoms, there are some types of cancer, like gallbladder cancer, simply don’t show signs or symptoms until it is in its advanced stages.

Knowing and understanding the different types of cancer therapy will be your next step in increasing you cancer knowledge. The most popular form of cancer therapy is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is a treatment in which the cancer is attacked by antibiotics of some kind. The worst part about chemotherapy is more related to the worst part about cancer cells. Because cancer cells are actually cells that were grown in the human body, it is difficult for antibodies and/or our immune system to distinguish between the good and bad cells in the body. Because of this chemotherapy will attack and destroy both good and bad cells. Often times it uses cell division limiters, causing the spreading of cancer to be slowed to a more manageable speed and then attacked. Because chemotherapy also works against the good cells in the body, patients will often be very weak and often remain hospitalized during this cancer therapy.

Another option when it comes to cancer therapy is radiation therapy. This cancer therapy is essentially the use of ionizing radiation to destroy cancer cells. This can be a highly effective treatment method for cancer, but unfortunately different types of cancer respond differently to radiation. Some can be easily eliminated by it, while others will not be overly harmed by it. Many times this type of cancer therapy will be used to destroy minor cancers, or simply maintain larger or out of control cancers. Radiation also becomes a large step in bone marrow transplants, which is a great cancer treatment for leukemia.

Other cancer therapy options are available, but often times they will require surgery or some other option that will actually weaken the entire body, in hopes that it will weaken the cancer cells enough for them to be completely destroyed.

Cancer is all over the world today and you can protect yourself from the advance stages by knowing the cancer symptoms and being aware of the current cancer therapy available.

There are hundreds of different forms and types of cancer in the world today. Each form can be incredibly dangerous and also widespread. With millions of people being diagnosed every year, it can be a cause for worry in many people. Fortunately there are things that you can do to monitor your own body to watch for cancer symptoms. Of course, different type of cancer will have different cancer symptoms, but the more common cancers have common symptoms. Knowing these cancer symptoms is the key to early detection and early detection is the key to successful cancer therapy and treatment.

When you are looking at specific cancers, the cancer symptoms will range almost across the board to encompass nearly everything from coughing and chest pain, like you will find with lung cancer, to constipation or diarrhea, like you will find with colon cancer. With such a wide range of symptoms and so many other diseases and illness that carry those same side effects, cancer can be difficult to detect. There are some main cancer symptoms however. These symptoms of the most common cancers: night sweats, unexplained weight loss, chills, fever, unexplained fatigue and unexplained loss of appetite. Of course this list isn’t exhaustive, but they the most common cancer symptoms to the most common cancer types. Many of the symptoms will include unexplained. This is because if you have the flu or are simply very stressed or busy, you may display some of these symptoms, but when they begin to occur for no reason you are aware of then it becomes a problem.

If you go to the doctor for any of these problems and he/she feels there might be a cause for concern you will be put through a few tests. Most of them are relatively simple, like a chest x-ray or blood sample. Some are a little more complex like a CT scan or biopsy, but either way they are effective ways to detect cancer early.

Once cancer has been detected, cancer therapy can begin. Cancer therapy comes in many different forms and is always more effective if the cancer symptoms are caught early. Cancer therapy ranges from radiation, surgery, immunotherapy or chemotherapy. Each of these treatments can be difficult and painful in a number of different ways, but are often the best methods available for cancer treatment.

The reason that cancer is so difficult to detect and especially treat is because the nature of what cancer actually is. In short, cancer is your own body’s cells, mutated. This is why your immune system doesn’t destroy it, because it tricks the body into believing it belong there. Once it has mutated it multiplies uncontrollable. Because the immune system is one of the best disease fighting tools we have, immunotherapy has become a leader cancer therapy options. On top of its effectiveness, it is also safe and comes with the most minimal patient discomfort because it is merely his/her own body fighting the cancer.

Immunotherapy is essentially a cancer therapy in which doctors clone the patients own white blood cells and then re-release them into the blood stream. Many times these cells are trained to identify the deformities in the cancer cells and will attack. Another way immunotherapy works is by the injection of antibodies in the body. This is causes the patient’s own immune system to be able to detect the cancer cells and build the strength of the immune system to assist it in the destruction of the cancer cells. This form of cancer therapy is still in its early stages of testing, but has already had promising results and cases in which it eliminated the patients cancer. As of now, immunotherapy remains in the forefront of cancer therapy testing and will hopefully be part of the mainstream treatments soon.

Worry about cancer isn’t very helpful at all, unless you know the cancer symptoms that you should be watching for. Also knowing the cancer therapy options available will keep you informed, which is the first step in being safe.

The stage of a cancer is a way to describe how advanced the cancer is and how much the cancer has spread. The stage usually takes into account the size of a tumor, how much it has penetrated into surrounding tissue, whether it has spread to adjacent organs, how many lymph nodes it has invaded, and whether it has spread to distant parts of the body including organs. Staging of cancer is very important because treatments are often different based on the stage. The Stage is also a strong indicator of the chances for survival.

Staging systems are specific for each type of cancer. Some cancers, however, do not have a staging system.

The most commonly known staging system among laypersons is Roman numeral Staging. This system uses numerals 0 thru IV to describe the progression of the cancer. The stages may vary for the type of cancer but the general staging is similar to this:

Stage 0 precancerous tissue or cancerous tissue that has not yet started to spread.

Stage I cancers are localized in one part of the body.

Stage II cancers are advanced but have not spread to other parts of the body or lymph nodes.

Stage III cancers are locally advanced and have spread to the lymph nodes.

Stage IV cancers have often spread to other organs or throughout the body.

Prostate is a glandular organ present only in males. It surrounds the neck of bladder & the first part of urethra and condributes a secretion to the semen. The gland is conical in shape and measures 3 cm in vertical diameter and 4 cm in transverse diameter. It has got five lobes anterior, posterior, two lateral and a median lobe.Since the first part of the urethra pass through it any lesion in the prostate will produce difficulty in passing urine.

Diseases of the Prostate Gland
1.Prostatitis – This is the inflamation of the prostate gland due to bacterial infection.
2.Benign enlargement of the prostate – This is a non cancerous tumour of the prostate seen after the age of 50. 3,Cancer of the prostate:-This is the 4th most common cause of death from malignant diseases in males.

Cancer of the Prostate.
Cancer of the prostate is directly linked with the male sex hormones(androgens). If the levels of sex hormone increases the growth rate of cancer also increases. It is found that after the removel of testes there is marked reduction in the size of tumour.

Site of Tumour
Prostate cancer is seen mainly in the posterior lobe.Non cancerous enlargement is seen in other lobes.

Changes in the Gland in Cancer
The gland becomes hard with irregular surface with loss of normal lobulation .Histologically prostate cancer is an adeno carcinoma(cancer of the epithelial cells in the gland)

Growth
Growth rate is very fast in prostate cancer .The tumour compresses the urethra and produce difficulty in urination.

Spread of Tumour
Metastasis in cancer of prostate is very early.

1.Local Spread
From the posterior lobe the cancer cells go to the lateral lobes and seminal vesicles.Tumour cells also move to the neck and base of the urinary bladder.

2.Lymphatic Spread
Through the lymph vessels cancer cells reach the internal and external illiac group of lymph nodes. From there cells move to retroperitonial(Behind the peritonium) and mediastinal lymph nodes(in the chest)

3.Spread through the Blood
Spread of cancer cells takeplace through the periprostatic venous plexus and reaches the vertebral veins while coughing and sneezing and finally enders the vertebral bodies of the lumbar vertebrae.

Signs and symptoms of Prostate Cancer
Signs and symptoms depend upon the stage of the cancer. The following symptoms may be seen.

1.No symptoms – Tumour is small and only in the posterior lobe. This is diagnosed accidentely.

2.Slight difficulty in Urination – Here the tumour is enlarged and urethra is slightly compressed.Shortly there will be frequent urge for urination with difficult urination.

3.When the tumour spread to all nearby areas including neck of bladder and urethra there will be painful urination with bleeding.Urine comes drop by drop.

4.Retention of Urine – When the urethra is completely compressed there will be retention of urine. This can lead to hydronephrosis, renal failure ect.In this condition patient may get convulsions due to renal failure and finally coma.

5.Signs of Metastasis – Some patients come with the signs and symptoms of metastasis.
a.Lumbo sacral pain due to spread of cancer cells to lumbar and sacral vertebrae.
b.Fracture of spine due to cancerous growth in the spine.
c.Swelling, pain and fluid collection in the abdomen due to lesion in the abdomen.
d.Respiratory complaints due to cancer of mediastinal lymphnodes and lungs.
e.General weakness due to spread of cancer to different parts of the body.
f.Anaemia due to involment of bone marrow and increased destruction of RBCs.

Clinical Examination
Includes per rectal examination to feel the prostate gland, palpation of abdomen to feel the swelling in kidneys and any tumours.Patient is examined from head to foot to find out any lesions.

Investigations
1.Complete blood investigations – RBC,WBC,Platlets,ESR,bleeding time ,clotting time etc.
2.Urine Analysis – Microscopic examination to detect pus cells, occult blood, casts,Crystals etc.
3.Renal function tests – Blood urea level, serum creatinine level, electrolyte level etc.
4.Serum acid phosphatase – Increased in cancer of prostate.
5.X-ray of the spine – To detect any tumour or fracture.
6.Ultra sonography – Gives idea about prostate, bladder, kidney etc.
7,C T scan – More detailed information about organs and tumour.
8.MRI of the spine – Gives detailed information about spine ,disc and nearby soft tissues.
9.Lymphangiography – Gives idea about lymphatic spread of cancer.
10.Biopsy to confirm cancer – Biopsy is taken from the tumour and is send for histopathological examination under the microscope. This will detect the presence of cancer cells.

Treatment
1.If there is retention of urine catheterisation is needed.
2.Dialysis if kidney failure.
3.If there is coma monitoring of all vital functions along with parentral nutrition and electolyte supply.
4.Specific treatment is prostatectomy (removal of prostate)
5.Partial prostatectomy – Here only the affected lobe is removed.
6.Radical prostatectomy – Total removal of prostate along with nearby lymphnodes.
7.Hormone therapy – Stilbestrol is given to reduce tumour growth.Since this treatement increases the chance for cardiovascular disease phosphorylated diethyle stilbesterol is used nowadays.
8.Chemotherapy:-Drugs like cyclophosphamide, cisoplatim ect are given.
9.Radiotherapy is also done for some cases.
10.Homoeopathy – Homoeopathic drugs like carcinocin, conium, sabal, crotalus, thuja, iodum, selinium, staphysagria, sulphur ect can be given according to symptoms.Constitutional homoeopathic medicine will give great relief and can increase the life span.

by Tom Parker
Colon cancer (also known as bowel cancer or colorectal cancer) is any cancer that affects the last section of the digestive system (usually the colon or rectum. It is one of the most prominent cancers in the UK and is responsible for over 16,000 deaths each year. In this article I will be outlining the signs, the symptoms, the treatments and the things you can do for effective bowel cancer prevention.

Most cancers of the colon develop from polyps (fleshy growths) in the intestine. The majority of these polyps are harmless but some become become cancerous. If left untreated the cancer in these polyps spreads to the colon and in the worst cases other areas of the body too.

Unfortunately it is not known what causes these polyps to become cancerous but there are a number of associated colon cancer risks. Age is a major risk factor with over three quarters of bowel cancers occurring in people who are over 60 years old. Diet is another significant bowel cancer risk factor with excessive consumption of red meats and alcohol and a low fibre intake all linked to the development of this cancer. Other factors that increase your risk of contracting this cancer include a family history of the disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, a lack of exercise and smoking.

If cancer does develop it is often accompanied by a number of symptoms. These colon cancer symptoms are often quite mild in the beginning but get worse as the cancer grows. Some of the symptoms are directly associated with the growth of the cancer and include abdominal pain, bloody stools, changing bowel movements and rectal bleeding. Rectal bleeding in particular is one of the most common symptoms so if you notice any bleeding from this area you should consult your doctor immediately. Other less obvious symptoms include unexplained tiredness and weight loss.

If you suspect that you have bowel cancer based on the above symptoms you should consult your doctor immediately. They will then be able to perform the necessary tests. The first test is usually a rectal exam where your doctor will feel for any lumps or swollen polyps using a gloved finger. Your doctor may then recommend a colonoscopy, which involves the passing of a small fibre optic camera into your anus, so that they can visual examine your colon.

If any of the tests reveal that you have bowel cancer your doctor will start you on a treatment program. The treatment offered will be dependent upon whether the cancer is in the early stages or has become more advanced. Early stage colon cancer is much more treatable than a cancer that has become advanced.

Surgery is the most common treatment for bowel cancer with the procedure attempting to extract the cancerous cells from the colon and then stitch it back together. Chemotherapy (the use of anti-cancer medications) and radiotherapy (the use of high energy radiation beams) are sometimes used as colon cancer treatments but are more commonly used to help shrink the cancerous cells prior to surgery and then to reduce the risk of the cancer returning after surgery.

Although this cancer can be treated, prevention is a much more attractive and uncomplicated option, plus it is not that difficult It simply involves making a few positive lifestyle changes. Exercising regularly is believed to reduce your risk by as much as 40%. Reducing your red meat and alcohol intake whilst eating more fruits, vegetables and other fibre rich foods can also help prevent colon cancer. Giving up smoking is another important lifestyle change for the prevention of both bowel cancer and other cancers too.

I hope this article has helped you learn about the symptoms and risk factors for bowel cancer BUT most importantly I hope it inspires you to actively participate in cancer prevention by improving your lifestyle. Try and eat a balanced diet that contains plenty of fruits and vegetables, try and do some physical activity every day and if you smoke start working towards giving up. Whilst we still do not know exactly what causes this disease, these lifestyle changes can go a long way towards preventing it.

Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Colon cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.

Skin cancer represents the most commonly diagnosed malignancy, surpassing lung, breast, colorectal and prostate cancer. Tumors develop primarily on areas of sun-exposed skin, including the scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, arms and hands, and on the legs in women. Contrary to popular conception, skin cancer affects people of all skin tones, including those with darker complexions. Most skin cancers appear after age 50, but the sun’s damaging effects begin at an early age, therefore protection should start in childhood in order to prevent skin cancer later in life.

Types of Skin Cancer
The main types of skin tumours are:
1. Melanomas are skin cancers that form in melanocytes (skin cells that make pigment). Even though it is rare, malignant melanoma is responsible for 75 % of all skin cancer related death cases.
2. Basal Cell carcinomas are skin cancers that form in basal cells (small, round cells in the base of the outer layer of skin).
3. Squamous Cell carcinomas are skin cancers that form in squamous cells (flat cells that form the surface of the skin).

Rarer types of skin tumors are:
1.	Neuroendocrine carcinomas which form in neuroendocrine cells (cells that release hormones in response to signals from the nervous system.) carcinoma of the skin.
2.	Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
3.	Merkel cell carcinoma.
4.	Kaposi’s sarcoma.

Risk Factors
Risk factors for non melanoma and melanoma skin cancers include: unprotected and or excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, fair complexion, occupational exposures to; coal tar, pitch, creosote, arsenic compounds, radium, family history, multiple or atypical moles, and severe sunburns as a child. Anyone with a family history of skin cancer also has an increased risk of developing skin cancer.

Signs of Skin Cancer
Signs of melanoma may include: A large brownish spot with darker speckles located anywhere on your body, a simple mole located anywhere on your body that changes in color, size or feel or that bleeds, a small lesion with an irregular border and red, white, blue or blue-black spots on your trunk or limbs, shiny, firm, dome-shaped bumps located anywhere on your body, dark lesions on your palms, soles, fingertips and toes, or on mucous membranes lining your mouth, nose, vagina and anus.

Signs of basal cell carcinoma can vary depending on the type and may include skin changes such as a: Firm, pearly bump with tiny blood vessels in a spider like appearance (telangiectasias). Signs of squamous cell carcinoma include any: persistent, firm, red bump on sun-exposed skin.

Treatment
Depending on the type of skin cancer, dermatologic surgical treatments include: surgical excision; electrodessication and curettage which involves alternately scraping or burning the tumor in combination with low levels of electricity, cryosurgery and laser surgery. Other dermatologic treatments include radiation therapy and photodynamic therapy (a chemical is applied to the skin prior to exposure to a light source). Mohs micrographic surgery is preferred for large basal cell carcinomas, those that recur after previous treatment, or lesions affecting parts of the body where experience shows that recurrence is common after treatment by other methods.

Skin cancer can be deadly, but nearly all skin cancer can be treated if it is detected and diagnosed early, however skin cancer can recur, so it is important that you examine your skin regularly for any changes and see your doctor for a check-up every six to 12 months.

Bone cancer is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all new tumors. Not all bone tumors are fatal in fact benign (non cancerous) abnormalities are more common than malignant ones. Most bone cancers are secondary and have been spread from another site. Primary bone cancer which starts in the bone is quite rare constituting less than one per cent of all malignant tumors. They are more common in males, especially in children and adolescents. The most common type of primary bone cancer is osteosarcoma. This type of carcinoma usually affects young adults. It can affect any bone, but the arms, legs and pelvis are more commonly affected. Other less common forms of primary bone cancer include Ewing sarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma and chondrosarcoma.

Primary Bone Cancer
The causes of primary bone tumours are not known; however, adults who have Pagets disease (a bone disease) may have an increased risk.

Secondary bone cancer
Secondary bone cancer is the most common bone cancer. It is a carcinoma that starts somewhere else in the body and spreads (metastasises) to the bone. The most common cancers that spread to the bone originate in the breast, prostate, lung, kidney and thyroid.

Reticulum cell sarcoma of the bone
A cancerous tumor of the bone marrow presenting in more males than females.

Leukaemia
Cancer of the blood, which starts in the bone marrow

Symptoms of bore cancer
Symptoms tend to develop slowly and depend on the type, location, and size of the tumor. The signs and symptoms of bone cancer include: painful bones and joints, swelling of bones and joints, problems with movement, susceptibility to fractures. Less common symptoms include: unexplained weight loss, tiredness, fever and sweating.

Remember bone cancer is very rare so if you have any of these symptoms it is likely to be caused by another condition. Always see your doctor if you have for a diagnosis.

Causes
Although bone cancer does not have a clearly defined cause, researchers have identified several factors that increase the likelihood of developing these tumors. A small number of bone cancers are due to heredity.

Diagnosis
Bone cancer can present itself in any of the bones of the body, but it is diagnosed most often in the long bones of the arms and legs.

Diagnosing bone cancer involves a number of tests, including: X-rays and bone scans to show the exact location and size of the cancer (these are always done prior to biopsy), bone biopsy where a small sample of the cancer is removed from the bone and examined in the laboratory for the presence of malignant cells, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan similar to a CT scan but uses magnetism instead of x-rays to build three-dimensional pictures of your body.

Treatment
The treatment and prognosis of bone cancer depend upon multiple factors including the type and extent of the cancer, the patient’s age and overall health status. Tumors may be treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these.

Primary bone cancers:
The tumor, surrounding bone tissue and nearby lymph nodes are surgically removed. In severe cases, the affected limb may need to be amputated, but this is rare. Treatment may also include radiotherapy (x-rays to target and kill the cancer cells) and chemotherapy (anti-cancer drugs). These may be given before surgery, to shrink the cancer and/or afterwards to destroy any remaining cancer cells.

Secondary bone cancer:
Treatment depends on the treatment for the original tumor, but usually includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy or hormone therapy. Surgery may be needed to strengthen the affected bone.

Prognosis
Overall, the chance of recovery (prognosis) for bone cancers has improved significantly since the development of modern chemotherapy. The chance of recovery will depend on a variety of influences; if the cancer has spread, the type of bone cancer, the size of the tumour, location, the person’s general health and other individual factors.

If the tumor is very small and localized, the five-year survival rate is close to 90 percent. If the cancer has begun to spread, however, survival becomes more difficult. The five-year survival rate is only about 60 percent, and the prognosis is poor once the cancer spreads.

Bone cancer in cats and dogs
Bone carcinoma in dogs and cats can be a challenging disorder. Osteosarcoma is by far the most common bone tumour if dogs, usually striking the leg bones of larger breeds. Chemotherapy significantly prolongs the survival of animals with osteosarcoma when used in conjunction with surgery. For dogs Cisplatin alone or in combination with doxorubicin markedly improves survival time to a median of 8-10 months with the percentage of dogs alive after11 months at 50%.

Feline Osteosarcoma unlike its canine counterpart it has a much lower rate of metastasis and longer term survival can be expected with complete excision. Median survival for cats with osteosarcoma is approximately 2 years with many cats outreaching that.

In 2004 lung cancer killed more people than breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer combined. Lung cancer accounts for 31% of all deaths from cancer, and 90% of these could have been prevented if people had not smoked cigarettes or other products containing nicotine and tar. In 2005 according to the American Cancer Society and the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) approximately 555,312 people died of lung cancer in the USA which accounted for about 22.8% of all deaths in the US.

The American Cancer Society and the CDC estimates that in 2008 over 215,020 new cases of lung cancer will exist. Within these stats around 114,000 men and 100,000 women will be involved. Lung cancer is the second biggest killer among people. And in 2008 out of 745,180 men tested, 15% have lung cancer and out of 692,000 women tested, 14% lung have some form of cancer. The top killer for men is prostate and the top for women is breast cancer.

Nicotine is highly addictive, smoke containing nicotine is inhaled into the lungs, and the nicotine reaches your brain just six seconds. Nicotine in small doses ask as the stimulant to the brain. In larger doses of lethal poison affecting the heart, blood, and hormones. One of the reasons people smoke is to calm their nerves.

Unfortunately for the user this calm is not natural and the only reason they are feeling the calm is because of the drugs inside the cigarette. This figure is smoked the amount of car inhaled into the lungs increases. Carbon monoxide makes it harder for red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body which is one of the main reasons why we may feel “out of breath” when we smoke.

Filters don’t work. Just because a cigarette has a filter does not mean its safer. The companies only use this as a ply in order to make you the consumer feel “safer” about smoking cigarettes. Chemicals are added to cigarettes to make the cigarettes taste blander.

Chemists found that tobacco was too bitter tasting. So that decided to add “taste improving” chemicals. Unfortunately some of these chemicals also cause cancer. A chemical very similar to rocket fuel is used in cigarettes to keep the end of the cigarette burning at extremely high temperatures. The actual list of ingredients in a cigarette is too long to even list in this article, however here are a few that you can take a look at:

Fungicides and pesticides – these cause many types of cancers and birth defects
Cadmium – ingredient linked to lung and prostate cancer
Benzene – ingredient linked to leukemia
Formaldehyde – ingredient linked to lung cancer
Nickel – causes increased susceptibility to lung infections

Of course all cigarettes aren’t the same, over 5000 ingredients are in a cigarette besides the actual tobacco. Some of the most common additives are yeast, wine, chocolate (yes chocolate), caffeine, and beeswax. Just to list a few more ingredients so you can get an idea of how bad cigarettes really are for you:

Angelica root extract: Known to cause cancer in animals
Arsenic: Used in rat poisons
Cyanide: Deadly poison
Ethyl Furoate: Causes liver damage in animals
Lead: Poisonous in high doses
Methoprene: Insecticide
Megastigmatrienone: Chemical naturally found in grapefruit juice
Maltitol: Sweetener for diabetics
Napthalene: Ingredient in mothballs
Methyl isocyanate: Its accidental release killed 2000 people in Bhopal, India in 1984
Polonium: Cancer-causing radioactive element

According to Phillip Morris International they state that “In addition to tar, nicotine and CO, nearly 5,000 chemicals have been identified in tobacco smoke to date. Public health authorities have classified between 45 and 70 of those chemicals, including carcinogens, irritants and other toxins, as potentially causing the harmful effects of tobacco use.”

Well gee, then why are they used? This isn’t an answer I can give you, in fact I don’t even think it’s an answer that the cigarette companies can answer for you. It seems like it’s just one of those “it is what it is” answers. Ridiculous. That’s my answer. I don’t know how all cigarette companies work, but if you are interested I know that Phillips Morris International does offer a full list of the additives, yes all 5000 of them, of course I can’t seem to find the USA listed on the site anymore.

But if you are living in any place from Algeria to Venezuela you can find the list, plus you can even check your specific brand as well as components of the cigarette such as the ink, sleeve, filter, etc.

by Dick Aronson
Bladder cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in your bladder, a balloon-shaped organ in your pelvic area that stores urine. It is the fourth most common type of cancer in men and the eighth most common type in women. Tumors can develop on the surface of the bladder wall or in more severe cases, within the wall and into the underlying muscles. Cancer in the bladder typically affects older adults, though it can occur at any age. Bladder tumors are 2 to 3 times more common in men.

Causes of Bladder Cancer
Smoking, gender, and diet can affect the risk of developing bladder cancer. Bladder carcinomas are also associated with industrial exposure to aromatic amines in dyes, paints, benzedine, nitrates, solvents, leather dust, inks, combustion products, rubber, and textiles. The period between exposure to the carcinogen and development of symptoms is about 18 years.

There is currently limited evidence that diet plays a part in the development of bladder cancer, but a diet high in fruit and vegetables and low in fat may help reduce the risk. Urinary infections, kidney and bladder stones, and other causes of chronic bladder irritation have been linked with bladder cancer (especially squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder), but they do not necessarily cause bladder cancer.

Signs of Bladder Cancer
In early cases around 25% of patients have no symptoms. Commonly the first sign of bladder tumours is blood in the urine, pain after urination, urinary frequency and dribbling. However, these signs and symptoms are not specific to bladder cancer, and may also be caused by non-cancerous conditions, including prostate infections and cystitis.

Types of Bladder Cancer
Cancers are divided into superficial and invasive disease. Superficial bladder cancer is limited to the innermost linings of the bladder. Invasive bladder cancer has at least penetrated the muscular layer of the bladder wall. Less than 5% of bladder cancers in the United States are squamous cell carcinomas, however, worldwide this is the most common form, accounting for 75% of bladder carcinoma in underdeveloped nations. Urothelial carcinoma (transitional cell carcinoma) is by far the most common type of bladder cancer in the United States.

Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer
Cancer in the bladder is usually curable if it is diagnosed while the cancer is still contained in the bladder, and up to 80% of tumors are diagnosed at this early stage. A biopsy for bladder cancer is usually done during cystoscopy. CT and Ultrasound scans, urinalysis and arteriography may also be done.

Treatment for Bladder Cancer
Treatments include bladder cancer surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and biologic therapy. The stage and grade of the cancer provides important information and can help guide treatment. Superficial bladder tumors are surgically removed with chemotherapy being added to the treatment regime to help prevent recurrence. Radical cystectomy and urinary diversion (an external bag) is usually undertaken for invasive bladder cancer.

Several new compounds have shown activity against transitional cell bladder cancer and are now being tested in combination chemotherapy trials. BCG immunotherapy is the most effective intravesical therapy and involves a live attenuated strain of Mycobacterium bovis. Immunotherapy in the form of BCG instillation is also used to treat and prevent the recurrence of superficial tumors. Alternative bladder cancer treatments such as herbal treatment may also be of some benefit.

Risk Reduction
Stopping smoking can reduce the risk of getting bladder cancer and if you have been diagnosed with superficial bladder cancer, stopping smoking will reduce the risk of developing more tumours in the future. Bladder cancer has a recurrence rate of 50%-80% and therefore, doctors recommend cystoscopy screening every three months for the first two years after treatment. People who drink a lot of fluids each day have a lower rate of bladder cancer.

Survival Rates
The prognosis depends on the stage of the cancer, whether it is superficial or invasive bladder cancer, and whether it has spread to other places in the body. Superficial bladder cancer has a good prognosis, with 5-year survival rates of 82-100%. If a tumor has grown into the wall of the bladder but has not spread to other organs, treatment usually involves surgical removal of the tumor, or combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy, with a five-year survival rate of 60% to 75%. Patients with more deeply invasive tumors, which are also usually less well differentiated, and those with lymphovascular invasion experience 5-year survival rates of 30% to 50% following radical cystectomy.

by Joni Bell
Any type of searching around on the internet for cancer prevention will bring up results for vitamin B17. This usually puzzles people, because most people have never even heard of this B vitamin. Sure, everyone has heard about B vitamins and many people even routinely take a Vitamin B Complex tablet every day that consists of the eight essential B vitamins. However, vitamin B17 is certainly not one of those in the Vitamin B Complex; nor is it one about which most people are even aware.

What is this B Vitamin?

Vitamin B17 which has a chemical name of laetrile–is basically the purified form of amygdalin. Amygdalin is a substance that is most prevalent in apricot seeds, though it is also present in some other foods.

It can be ingested either through eating apricot seeds (or, in much smaller amounts, by eating other foods which contain the substance). Or, it can be taken in pill form. Tablets are typically available in either 100mg or 500mg concentrations.

What is Vitamin B17 for?

Laetrile, or vitamin B17, can be used to prevent cancer. In stronger doses, people have reported that it has been quite successful in the treatment of cancer as well; however, this is not its main purpose. It is intended to be used as a cancer prevention measure.
It works by destroying all of the bad cells that are present in your body. Scientists have proven that our bodies are continually making cancerous cells; taking vitamin B17 (laetrile) on a regular basis can work to rid the body of those cancerous cells.

How does it work?

Laetrile has a dangerous component cyanide locked away inside. The only way that can get unlocked and come out is if the laetrile comes into contact with a cancerous cell. Cancer cells have an enzyme that unlocks that cyanide, so to speak and the cyanide comes out and destroys the cancer cells. When the cyanide comes out, a neutralizing substance also comes out that prevents the cyanide from harming any nearby healthy cells.

By taking vitamin B17 daily, cancer cells never have a chance to develop because the laetrile destroys them too quickly.

Preventing Cancer Naturally

Yes, vitamin B-17 is a natural product, as its source is just a regular, everyday, common fruit. Apricot seeds are what make up vitamin B-17. This vitamin is a purified form of the substance that is found inside apricot seeds. This substance is called amygdalin, and it is what is used to create vitamin B-17.

That makes taking vitamin B-17 to prevent cancer completely natural. When you take these vitamin tablet’s available in either 100mg or 500mg strength pills, which can be split to smaller size’s you can be confident in knowing that you are taking a natural product.

Apricot Seeds? Really?

It may seem rather strange, but this is, indeed, where vitamin B17 comes from. There’s good reasoning behind this, it wasn’t done arbitrarily by some vitamin manufacturer.

Apricot seeds contain amygdalin. Amygdalin has cyanide locked away, ready to battle cancer and this cyanide can only be unlocked by a cancer cell because only those cells have the special unlocking enzyme. Once unlocked, the cyanide kills the cancer cell. Nearby cells are not harmed because a neutralizing agent is released with the cyanide to protect those cells.

Once this was discovered, a biochemist studied the substance and learned how to purify it. Then, in 1952, amygdalin was given its vitamin status based (at least partly) upon recommendation from the co-founder of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Today, the NCI doesn’t readily acknowledge the benefits of vitamin B17, though.

Jonathan Bell has many years of extensive study in the area of natural cancer prevention and treatment. He has numerous success stories of people being diagnosed living cancer free with use of alternative methods. http://apricotpower-info.com/
